MetaParangolés are interactive outfits created to incentive body movement and interaction for intellectually impaired people.
A LilyPad-Arduino microcontroller is used in the fabric "ponchos" to promote the interaction between dancers. A simple electronic circuit was used in the fabric to synchronize the dancer's movement to the turning on and off of the LEDs.
The project is the result of a partnership between the Instituto de Psicologia Clínica Educacional e Profissional (IPCEP) and SecondLab. MetaParangolés is currently used to study the relations between wearable technology and the body movement of people with intellectual impairments.
